Grand Rounds and Lectures

Grand Rounds and clinical and research lectures at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine have been a tradition since the Institute's founding in 1962. Each week during Grand Rounds the faculty, residents and fellows of Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, together with visiting ophthalmologists and community ophthalmologists, gather to examine the detailed study of unusual or difficult clinical cases. These meetings foster intensive discussions of the ophthalmic problem and its treatment and promote an interchange of information and ideas among professionals - the essence of how ophthalmology is practiced.

Similarly, throughout the year Bascom Palmer faculty members update clinicians and researchers on the various aspects of ophthalmology and advance in clinical and laboratory research. Through the leadership and teamwork of our faculty members, Bascom Palmer fulfills its responsibilities as one of the world's foremost centers for educating and training ophthalmologists.
